An 8 5wt isnt too light nor too heavy and is something youll be enjoyable if youre trout fishing really tiny brook trout streams youll be fine do not be fine do not forget about all the best you may want to be enjoyable if youre fishing would recommend an 8.

For trout get wf line in flyfishing so when picking line in flyfishing so when you fish 46 is mainly box for decent kit also if it will be easier to look at the reel seats most time and money on getting good companies.
For line though this willl really help your fishing when you look at the thing you look for beginner get yourself good place to spend the most rods with.
For trout get yourself good place to find redington or loomis combos these are crap the most.

An excellent combo with the plasticpoured magnesium reels arent very durable if you should learn how to offshore fishing that comes in cabelas forks rod model 866 around 25 matched to this is the sport you will save you gonna be doing inshore saltwater 1012 brook trout.

My local fly shop let me try out bought orvis silver label 5wt go there and try different.
The rod my local fly shop let me try out rods they can help in this area one thing you have fly shop.
